What is an e-learning system?

E-LEARNING can be defined according to several definition.

For instance:

  • It is the effective learning process created by combining digitally delivered content with (learning) support and services - from "ODL QC - Newsletter".
  • It covers a wide set of applications and processes, such as Web-based learning, computer-based learning, virtual classrooms, and digital collaboration. It includes the delivery of content via Internet, intranet/extranet (LAN/WAN), audio- and videotape, satellite broadcast, interactive TV, and CD-ROM - from "Learning Circuits' Glossary".
  • It combines learning and technology to facilitate learning. This allows us to select the most effective approach to presenting the content - from "Kudos web-site".
It is apparent from these definitions that technology plays a relevant role in managing and delivering learning contents.
